11:15 - 12:45 am (CET) at Hotel Electra Palace Athens
EuroGEO combines the contributions of European members of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), a partnership of more than 100 national governments, over 100 participating organisations and the European Commission. GEO envisions a future where decisions and measures for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations.
The annual workshop brings together European players interested in and actively contributing to EuroGEO. This year's edition will focus on the preparation of the next journey for EuroGEO to align with progress made and new needs arisen in the European context, as well as to coordinate and strengthen its contribution to the post-2025 evolution of the GEO.
Dr N Biebow (Chair of the European Polar Board and Coordinator of the EU-PolarNet 2) and Dr R Badhe (Executive Secretary of the EPB) will join the workshop, co-chairing a session "EU polar observations – challenges ahead in terms of technology and governance". As part of the session, they will discuss the planned outcomes of EU funded projects in this area, shape collaborations, and understand recent evolutions at DG DEFIS and ESA. This session will include a discussion on next steps and the challenges ahead.
