By European Polar Board
During the Polar Symposium that took place on 22-23 February 2024 in Monaco, the EPB's Executive Secretary, R Badhe and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation’s Vice President & CEO, Olivier Wenden have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the European Polar Board and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. By this agreement, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation forged a strategic partnership with the European Polar Board, a co-organiser of the Polar Symposium.
The Polar Symposium has convened, for the second time, leading scientists to discuss how, how fast and in what ways changes in our planet’s polar regions are affecting Earth climate, living and social systems and how this concerns us all. The European Polar Board co-organised a panel discussion, and breakout discussion sessions on the 22 February 2024 on “Long-term Collaborations in the Polar Regions: Upcoming initiatives for the next decade”. The panel discussion was moderated by the EPB Executive Secretary, R Badhe, with Sara Olsvig, Larry Hinzman, Antje Boetius, Jane Francis, and Jefferson Cardia Simões. The breakout discussion sessions were co-organised by all partners of the Polar Symposium with APECS.
The European Polar Board is looking ahead to future collaboration with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to amplify awareness of polar challenges and jointly orchestrate events, particularly within the framework of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences, and other long term initiatives in the Polar regions.
